Maya's 1st birthday and funny Madison

We had Maya's first birthday party last weekend. Lots of family came, which was really fun! There was Dad and Twi, Donnie and Martha and Sam and Ilana, Brian and Justine, Sallie, Adam and Isaiah, Susan, Joe, Savannah, Harrison, London and Brooklyn. We had an RJ Goodies cake and of course a small one for Maya to demolish. It was interesting because she was much more dainty with her cake than Madison was. She just sort of picked at it little by little, rather than the full on hand smash that Madison did! She still had it all over though.

I can't believe Maya has been in our family for over a year. I just can't imagine what life was like before she was born. She is a joy to us every day - she is just such a happy, friendly, peaceful baby. She is on the verge of walking... she just doesn't make the leap to letting go, but she will walk anywhere while holding on to your hands.

One funny thing that Madison did at the party was with Ilana. Ilana had her purse and Madison kept trying to get into it. So a little later, Madison went up to Ilana and said "Am I your best friend?" and Ilana said "Yes you are." Then Maddy asked "Am I your favorite person?" and Ilana said "Yes you are!" So Madison responded "Then let me see your purse!!!" It was really funny. What a little manipulator!

Madison is also a good abstract thinker - she had a toy cow that had bold black and white patches that made it almost look like a zebra. So she said "This is a zebra cow!" Then she picked up a foam letter "D" and laid it against the cow's side, and said "And now it's a D-bra cow!!!" I thought that was pretty clever for a 2 year old!
